Finally caught that Darn linux penguin Finally after a number of tries, I now have the Linux Operating System on my computer. Its been quite a long time since my first attempt.

It was nearly two years ago when my curiosity got the best of me and I tried to see what this Linux was all about. It was the perfect timing because my Windows OS had just stopped functioning. At first it was taking a long time to start up but eventually it just wouldn't boot. At this opportunity, I went online and did a bit of research and selected my Linux distribution: Red Hat. But no matter what I did, the installation never succeeded. I couldn't figure out why because I had followed the instructions that I was given. Needless to say I gave up and just bought a new computer since to repair a laptop would be too much of a hassle.

Moving two years later, I had found out that the hard disk in my old lap top had broken down and it was never my fault. But that experience left me unsure on my abilities and I didn't want to cause any damage to my new computer. However, last night was different. I decided to give it one more shot after backing up my most important files. (To think I only had one writable CD at hand) Had I failed it would probably be 3 more years before I would even think about trying it again. Fortunately, after spending last night on it I was able to partition, install SUSE, and configure some basic settings without too much trouble. I can't tell you what a huge relief it was when I got it. I was so happy that I stared at the wallpaper and buttons for quite a while. By that time, it was time to sleep so I can't say much about my true experience with it. But I am optimistic that it will be good. It doesn't help that I won't be using my computer till Sunday because I am going back home for the weekend. Oh well ... something to look forward to.
