Sleeping for me has become less and less important as I have grown. I remember the time when I was younger and my mother would make me sleep at the most 10pm. However, over the years my bedtime was furthered delayed. Soon the hands of the clock just kept progressing: 11, 12, 1, 2. Just a few years ago, I had found the perfect balance and settled that 2 am would be resting time. That lasted for quite awhile but lately it has only become more and more difficult for me. I can always find something to do that will distract me and keep me up.

I wonder how many people go through this? To this end, I have tried to come up with things to fight back. First and foremost would be to turn off the computer but that can be quite difficult at times. What I find most effective is turning on some slow pace music (perhaps a little bit of classical or light jazz) and just lying on the bed with all the lights out. It might take awhile but eventually it kicks in. Of course I can't always do this since the sound wouldn't be fair to my roommate. The funniest method I have heard that I've never tried is to pick up a textbook and start reading on the bed. I've been told that you'll be out quick. I also heard somewhere that if you do quite a bit of physical work during the day that you'll be more likely to sleep with no problem at night.

All this just got me thinking from the fact that strangely the past few days I've been really tired and have slept around 8pm! I don't know what to make of it. I can only hope it continues because I rarely get the chance to get a good set of Zzz's.
